Project Description |
Project Dates: 2001-2008 |
During the first five years of the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP), the Los Angeles Regional Water Board focused on funding monitoring in each of its 10 watersheds on a rotating basis. The triad approach of water chemistry, water toxicity and benthic macro invertebrate community was used to assess whether the aquatic life beneficial use is being supported in wadeable streams. Several estuaries, harbors and lagoons were also assessed for aquatic life usage. The Los Angeles regional board has also supplemented State and regional programs such as the Clean lakes study, SWAMP Perennial Stream assessment, and Bight 08 Regional Monitoring Study. This effort has allowed for greater comparability of data across programs and an increase in the amount of data available for assessment purposes.
Monitoring Objectives

- Coordinate with other state and regional programs to assess aquatic life use
