Project Description |
Project Dates: 2006 - 2008 |
Monitoring was conducted from 2006 to 2008 for a project designed to determine the effects cover crops on runoff from orchard floors during rain events. The study included monitoring runoff directly in surface waters in the vicinity of the study orchards. The sites were located on Gilsizer Slough in Sutter County. Monitoring occurred for diazinon and esfenvalerate/valerate. Data for selected field parameters were collected as well.
Monitoring Objectives
The objective of the project was to determine the concentrations and loads of diazinon and esfenvalerate in storm water runoff from stone fruit and nut orchards as a means of evaluating the efficacy of orchard management practices. The concentrations of diazinon and esfenvalerate were obtained from Gilsizer Slough located in the same watershed as the orchards.
