Project Description |
Project Dates: 2003 - 2007 |
The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control board contracted with the University of California, Davis to conduct monitoring of agricultural discharges from 2003 through 2007 through two monitoring projects – Agricultural Waiver Phase I and Agricultural Waiver Phase II.
Ag Waiver Phase I Monitoring Program
This project was conducted by the UC Davis Aquatic Toxicology Laboratory for the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. The focus was monitoring toxicity of surface waters in the vicinity of the Delta with occasional samples analyzed for pesticides and physical parameters. The project was conducted in 2003.
Ag Waiver Phase II Monitoring Program
This project conducted by the UC Davis Aquatic Ecosystems Analysis Laboratory for the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board monitored sites in Region 5 from Bakersfield to Redding. Sites were monitored for numerous constituents including physical parameters, nutrients, metals, toxSicity, and chemistry. Monitoring was conducted from 2004 through 2007 for both surface water and sediment.
Ag Waiver Split Sampling
The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board conducted split sampling at the same time that coalitions monitored to assess both field collection and laboratory analyses performed by agricultural coalitions.
Monitoring Objectives
The objective of the Ag Waiver monitoring projects is to characterize discharges from agricultural lands in the Central Valley. Agricultural coalitions and irrigation districts must monitor to determine the quality of water discharged into waters of the state and measure the improvement of water quality as a result of the implementation of management practices.
